2019 Bentley Continental GT Convertible – A year after the coupe, Bentley unveils the discoverable variant of the third generation of Continental GT, with a cloth top that opens in 19 seconds.
What’s better than California to unveil a new convertible, which is more prestigious? It is at the Los Angeles Auto Show that the discoverable variant of the new Continental GT will make its first appearance, fourteen months after the coupe.
This declination adopts a soft top, which folds in 19 seconds. The operation can be performed while driving, up to 50 km/h. The customer will have the embargo of the choice for the canvas: seven fabrics will be proposed, including a new finish in a real tweet. Side silhouette, no surprise, we find the lines of the coupe, with among the changes compared to the old GT a more vertical grille, a lowered bonnet or lights shaped oval.
Bentley insists on the work done to improve the hood soundproofing in place, thanks in particular to the improvement of the joining system. To make the most of outdoor driving, even in cold weather, the seats incorporate a neck warmer, which promises to be warmer and quieter than the previous generation. The armrests can be heated. The 12.3-inch touchscreen is on a rotating element: it can disappear and give way to dials displaying the outside temperature, a compass, and a stopwatch, or plating.
2019 Bentley Continental GT Convertible Engine Specs
The 2019 Bentley Continental GT Convertible, which is no longer the GTC, began its career with the 6-liter W12 635 hp. The torque peaks at 900 Nm. What announces a breathtaking performance despite a significant weight: maximum speed of 333 km/h and 0 to 100 km/h achieved in 3.8 seconds. The car has an 8-speed dual-clutch gearbox and an all-wheel drive that varies the torque between the two axles. For braking, Bentley is not kidding, with 420mm front discs and 10-piston calipers, and rear 380mm discs and four-piston calipers. The dual-clutch eight-speed transmission provides smooth acceleration and Impressively quick gear shifts, hallmarks of the Continental GT character, as well as combined fuel economy of 22.8 mpg (UK) or 12.4 L/100 km (NEDC combined).
The braking system is the most powerful iron system ever fitted to a Bentley, with a total of 28 pistons. Front brake discs measuring 420 mm are a two-piece construction utilising a cast-iron friction ring and aluminium mounting bell. Front calipers feature ten pistons each, while rear calipers contain four pistons each that clamp 380 mm single-piece discs. Brakes of this scale provide the reliable, repeatable stopping performance inherently important to a 200+ mph sporting Grand Tourer.
2019 Bentley Continental GT Convertible Deliveries will begin in the spring of 2019.
