This is the series version of the 2019 Jaguar I-Pace, an SUV connected to the original silhouette. This new type of feline is equipped with two electric motors for a cumulative power of 400 hp. The base price is 78380 €.
I-Pace is one of the big novelties of this show and it shows the extraordinary crowds on the Jaguar stand. Even if the builder had planned the coup with no less than three models exposed, it was necessary to queue many minutes before being able to take place on board and not to drag to make his comment video.
The success of the TESLA has taken shortly the references of a premium automobile, which now put the double bites to embark on the segment of the high-end electric family (BMW i3 being a city-dweller). The fact that the American is not profitable does not scare them. Financial risk-taking is not the same because they will not be specialized, and the market is only in its infancy.
The response to Tesla is organized and Jaguar is the first to draw. The feline unveils the I-Pace in Geneva, which is its first 100% electric series model. As the name implies, the device is integrated into the feline’s SUV family. But his silhouette astonishes, with particular proportions.
2019 Jaguar I-Pace Dimensions
The 2019 Jaguar I-Pace measures 4.68 meters in length, only 5 cm less than the F-pace. Thanks to the presence of compact electric motors on the axles, the wheels were rejected in the corners. The I-Pace thus has a wheelbase of 2.99 meters, which is 12 cm more than that of the F-pace. The front part routs, with its hood short and plunging. At the back, the shoulders are swollen and the bezel is very inclined, giving airs of cut to the apparatus. The trunk almost forms a trunk.

The volume of the chest is generous thanks to the integration of the batteries in the floor, under the passengers. The capacity is 656 liters. Jaguar even managed to slide a 27-liter storage under the front cover.
2019 Jaguar I-Pace Motor
The 2019 Jaguar I-Pace is equipped with two electric motors developed by the brand. They are mounted on the axles, one at the front and the other in the rear, so the I-Pace is a four-wheel drive but without a transmission shaft. The cumulative power is 400 hp and the maximum torque is 696 Nm. Enough to make the I-Pace a champion of the Chronos, with a 0 to 100 km/h achieved in 4.8 seconds. On the other hand, the maximum speed is limited to 200 km/h.
The battery is a 90 kWh lithium-ion. Jaguar announces an autonomy of 480 km with the WLTP cycle, more demanding than the NEDC. In normal driving conditions, it should, therefore, be possible to make at least 400 km with a full. Inevitably, the big battery makes the I-Pace not light, with a weight of 2.2 tons. But a certain dynamism should be preserved at the wheel, thanks to a 50/50 mass distribution and a lowered center of gravity (130 mm lower than in an F-Pace).
With a 7 KW terminal installed at home, charging will be done in 10 hours. On an ultra-fast 100 KW terminal, it will take 45 minutes to refuel at 80%. The car will analyze the driver’s driving style to accurately calculate the autonomy. Like the Teslas, I-Pace will be the first Jaguar that will be able to receive remote updates.
2019 Jaguar I-Pace Price
I-Pace is already available to order. The base price with the finish is € 78 380. The Tesla Model X, only other large electric SUV for now, starts at 86 000 € in the 75D finish, with NEDC autonomy of 417 km, but it is much longer with 5.04 M. Note that an F-Pace S with V6 petrol of 380 HP is charged €83,000. Jaguar has already organized a meeting between the I-Pace and the model X to show that its model is accelerating stronger.
