2019 Kia Ceed Review; Redesign Exterior and Better Features
Here Are The New 2019 Kia Ceed. A few weeks before the Geneva show, we were able to discover the third and last generation of the Korean compact. Taking the target of the Volkswagen Golf and the Ford Focus, it clearly has the teeth that scratch the parquet. Since the release of the first generation in 2007, it sold 1,280,000 of Cee’d. Well yes, still… And 640 000 of the current generation. But that’s on the world stage.
But with this new generation, Kia’s ambitions are great. Of about 3 000 sales per year in the hexagon, the goal is to reach the 10 000 signed purchase orders, all body variants combined. Because the Car will come in 5 doors (the 3 Doors ProCee’d disappeared), break SW and a new variant that should look like a shooting brake.
2019 Kia Ceed is the fifth door that opens the ball, and so we discover today. Everything changes, starting with the name of the car. If if, promised, look well, this is the new, and not the new 2019 Kia Ceed.
Always drawn in the European Style center of the brand in Frankfurt, by the team of Gregory Guillaume and Peter Schreyer, she claims a family air with the recent Stinger.
2019 Kia Ceed Redesign Exterior & Interior
The new platform, shared with the technical cousin Hyundai i30, authorizes a new design, and it is true that the company is evolving greatly. The front face is well worth the famous “Tiger Nose” grille, now highlighted by a chromed ring and a shiny black ring. The optics stretch to the wings, while the shield now incorporates classic fog lamps. Those with LED to the square look of the previous generation evolve and find themselves, somewhat transformed, in optics and take the function of daytime fires.
The profile seems somewhat stretched. On the one hand because the 2019 Kia Ceed height has decreased by 2.3 cm, but also because a single line of force runs along the bodywork, emphasizing the windows. The shape of the latter also evokes quite strongly that of the latest Mercedes class A, recently unveiled. The rear jamb is wide enough, and leads to a horizontalisée back side, flanked by LED lights (from the second level of finish) that will remain lit at all times, in the manner of the latest Renault Megane. A plus for visibility towards other road users.
The template, if it does not evolve in length (4.31 m), takes a bit of muscle in width (+ 2 cm), and despite the new platform, the wheelbase remains exactly the same, at 2.65 M. The front overhang decreases by 2 cm, so the rear overhang increases All the same. A few millimeters are grappillés in the back for the shoulders of the passengers, but the space on the legs does not evolve. It is especially the vault that benefits from the optimization of the interior space, earning 15 liters of volume. Cuba now 395 liters, it reaches the average of the category.
The 2019 Kia Ceed Dashboard, meanwhile, disappoints somewhat. Not at the level of the quality of materials, which is very good for the category, not more at the level of the assemblies, which are without burrs, but at the level of the atmosphere. There are a few small touches of aluminum, but overall it’s sad, depressing limit. It’s a pity, because we had discovered on the SUV urban Stonic that Kia could make interiors a little more fun and customizable. That is not the case here. Black is black, Germanic ambiance. We also feel that Teutonic inspiration is everywhere.
2019 Kia Ceed Engine Trims and Transmission; 5 Engine at launch
The new platform also allows the implementation, as on the i30, of new engines. At launch, the station will be available with 3 petrol engines. The old 1.4 MPi 100 is taken back to the entry level, in order to be able to offer an interesting call price. It will be accompanied by the 3-cylinder 1.0 T-GDI 120 CH, and the new 1.4 T-GDI 140 ch “Kappa”, which we already know under the hood of the i30.
In 2019 Kia Ceed diesel, the new 1.6 IDRC was the officer (type “U3”), in two power levels, i.e. 115 hp, or 136 hp, with a torque of 280 Nm for both. It uses the SCR technology for NOX (nitrogen oxides) and respects the Euro 6d TEMP standard.
All engines will have a 6-speed mechanical gearbox, and the 1.4 T-GDI 140 and the 1.6 IDRC can be coupled to the DCT7 dual clutch driven a manual transmission. The latter will be coupled with a driving mode selector to choose between “Normal” and “Sport”, the latter playing on the steering assistance, the response to the accelerator, but not on the firmness of the suspensions.
2019 Kia Ceed Equipment; THE BEST!
On the equipment side, there too, the “the” is at the competitor level, even above. It adopts in Series 7 airbags, including a knee airbag for the driver, automatic lighting of the lights, Bluetooth, 7-inch touchscreen multimedia system, LED daytime running lights, automatic management of the road lights, drowsiness alert, Active assistance in keeping track, and the autonomous emergency braking system with pedestrian detection.
Then, depending on the level of finish and the options, it will be able to dispose of the heated windshield, heated and ventilated seats, heated rear seat, full LED headlights, LED taillights, 8-inch touch screen navigation, a PA JBL, the adaptive speed controller with stop and go system, monitoring of blind spots, rear traffic alert, automatic parking assistance.
But most importantly, the 2019 Kia Ceed is adopting a “traffic jam assist” system, which allows it to display a level 2 of autonomous driving. Through cameras, the car follows the lines of the road, keeps the car in the center of the traffic lane, accelerates and brakes alone according to the traffic in front of it. It is operational from 0 to 130 km/h.
This package allows it to match the level of equipment of a Golf, and surpass that of the competitors, Peugeot 308 and Renault Megane. The first guard, however, the possibility of having a chassis driven, and the Megane the exclusivity of a chassis with 4 wheels guiding on the GT.
2019 Kia Ceed Price and Release Date
Prices are not yet known but should remain stable and present a good price/equipment ratio. The guarantee is always 7 years within the limit of 150 000 km. This novelty will, of course, be present on the Kia stand at the Geneva Motor Show, alongside another variant of bodywork. It will be marketed at the end of the second quarter of 2018.
