Here is The New Updates of 2020 Mercedes GLE. The 88th edition of the World Auto Show opens tomorrow and Mercedes has just unveiled the preview of the new generation of GLE, its family SUV. More chic, technological and now with 7 seats, he will face him, exposed at the same time, his rival forever, the new BMW X5.
It is in a Parisian monument of art deco, the Molitor Pool, that Mercedes has chosen to lift the veil on its 2020 Mercedes GLE. The family SUV plays the continuity. Visually, it is in line with Mercedes’ new visual identity that goes through tapered lights and a trapeze grille.
The rear part retains the custodian connected to the bezel of his ancestor, the M-Class, while the lights take the form of diamonds. On board, the GLE cleans and adopts a 100% digital dashboard that combines two 12-inch screens one touch, the other not. This instrumentation is completed by a head-up display and a gesture control system. To govern all the multimedia features, he relies on the MBUX voice system, the same as on board the new A-Class.
With a wheelbase that borders the 3 meters, the GLE is much more welcoming than before. In the second row, the bench is fixed as standard with a 40/20/40 cut. The novelty is, of course, the arrival of two additional optional rear seats. A benefit that was sorely missed. He joins the Audi Q7 and BMW X5. Unfortunately, we could not test them since the version displayed was in 5 places configuration. The trunk also wins with 825 liters in 5-seater configuration and up to 2,055 liters with all rear seats folded down.
2020 Mercedes GLE Engine Specs
At launch, the GLE will start with a single gasoline engine. A 6-cylinder 357 hp equipped with a 48V technology that provides a “boost” function and a braking energy recovery. All this is intended to lower emissions rates and pump-outs. The range will then be expanded with four cylinders, petrol and diesel, and a rechargeable hybrid version. In all cases, the transmission will be provided by the 9-speed automatic transmission and a 4MATIC all-wheel drive.
Level 3 autonomous driving
The GLE is not immune to the arrival of many driving aids such as a system able to anticipate traffic jams and take over from the driver during a traffic accordion up to 60 km / h. In fact, the Distronic cruise control and active distance control is able to anticipate a traffic jam thanks to the information communicated by the GPS connected to the traffic info. Once the slowdown is in sight (the cap is also detected by a camera and a radar), an “active congestion assistant” ensures autonomous driving up to about 60 km / h. If the vehicle stops, it can restart alone (maximum stopping time of one minute). On multi-lane roads, the directional assistant offers a function that facilitates the passage of a vehicle. urgency: the car runs as far as the edge of the lane. Mercedes also offers for the first time a maneuvering aid with trailer.
In terms of comfort, in addition to the system that analyzes the road upstream (Road Surface Scan) and the one that compensates the inclination in turns, the GLE receives a new undercarriage E-Active Body Control. It individually regulates the suspension and damping characteristics of each wheel to counter not only roll movements but also pitching and vertical movements.
The 2020 Mercedes GLE will appear in France in the spring of 2019 with a price set at € 69,000.
