Here is The New 2020 Opel Vivaro. Two weeks after unveiling the Zafira Life, Opel presents the utility version named Vivaro as the previous generations. But do not rely on this identical name because the technological content has been completely revised.
The PSA Group, the owner of the Opel brand, is expanding its new strategy. Indeed after the van Combo designed in parallel Peugeot Partner and Citroën Berlingo, the builder to the light commercialize, from February 2019, the new light utility vehicle Vivaro. A clone of the Peugeot Expert and Citroën Jumpy that almost sign the end of the partnership with Renault. Apart from the Trafic model, based on the former Vivaro, only the Movano, inspired by the Renault Master, is still in the catalog.
But with this arrival in the van category, Opel should upset the market somewhat. Professionals can indeed turn to this utility without fear because these tricolor twins (not to mention the Proace version marketed by Toyota) have already demonstrated all their qualities. Importing competitors like Volkswagen with the Transporter, Mercedes with the Vito and even Ford with the Transit Custom, can start to worry.
2020 Opel Vivaro Work Van Dimensions
Obviously, the technical solutions are unsurprising. With regard to the utilitarian characteristics, the Vivaro will be declined in three lengths with 4.60 m, 4.95 m and 5.30 m. As a result, three useful volumes of 4.6 m3, 5.8 m3 and 6.6 m3 will be in the catalog. Opel says the 2020 Opel Vivaro will be able to benefit from the Flex cargo option (Moduwork for PSA vans). As a reminder, this accessory is a hatch positioned under the front passenger seat to significantly increase the useful volume (Ex: 5.1 instead of 4.6 m3) and the useful length (Ex: 3,32 instead 2.16 m). The payload reaches 1,400 kg and the towing capacity 2,500 kg.
Alongside the panel vans, the range will be composed of in-depth cabin versions that can accommodate up to six people, floor-cab or even MPV (9 occupants)
2020 Opel Vivaro Features
In terms of equipment, Opel spares suspense. The manufacturer indeed reveals several accessories and same technologies but without announcing whether they will be standard or optional. Rates will be communicated a little later. Potentially interested professionals will have to wait before knowing the value of the price/equipment ratio. For the moment, the mark has been limited to indicating that the New Vivaro Van may be equipped with emergency braking with pedestrian detection, a drowsiness alert, an adaptive cruise control, assistance to maintain the track, automatic lighting of the high beams, ultrasonic sensors in the front and rear bumpers to facilitate parking maneuvers, a rearview camera (screen in the rearview mirror) or the display head high. The automatic emergency call will not be available until autumn 2019. Multimedia infotainment systems and Multimedia Navi are accessible via a 7-inch touch screen. Apple CarPlay or Android Auto are also planned to integrate the different smartphones on the market.
Under the hood, no information has yet been revealed. A surprising communication because the 2020 Opel Vivaro should adopt the same blocks as its twins namely Diesel BlueHDi 120, 150 and 180 hp. Nevertheless, alongside these “mysteries”, Opel announces a real novelty. A 100% electric Vivaro will make its appearance in the catalog from 2020, ie next year! Objective: to respond to service companies facing the problem of “last mile” delivery in urban centers.
For transmissions, the manufacturer is once again on the technologies developed by PSA and Dangel. For gearboxes, the Vivaro will have manual or automatic versions. In addition to optimize adhesion, Opel will offer two solutions. The IntelliGrip traction control system, integrated into the Chantier version, will allow professionals to work on building sites without fear of getting bogged down. Raised ground clearance and underbody protection will accompany this transmission.
Finally, as on the Peugeot Expert, a partnership with specialist Dangel was signed in order to offer the 2020 Opel Vivaro with an all-wheel-drive 4×4 when orders open.
All that remains is to discover the prices to know if the professionals will be interested in going to Opel instead of staying with Peugeot or Citroën.
