Nissan declined its NV200 in a 100% electric version under the name Nissan e-NV200. Unfortunately, sales remain limited. Also to try to attract more professionals, the Japanese manufacturer sells since this year development of its van with greater autonomy.

An easy European success explained. The Nissan e-NV200 has several qualities, two of which are essential for companies. The autonomy, real break for many professionals, is in clear progress on this last vintage. Thanks to the implementation of a new lithium-ion battery of 40 kWh against 24 kWh before, the LCV is able to travel up to 280 km in NEDC cycle … an additional 110 km (NEDC). Compared to the previous generation, Nissan announces a 60% increase in battery life.
Regarding charging, Nissan said that with the 6.6 kW onboard charger, standard on the e-NV200, the complete recharge of the battery 40 kWh takes place in 21 hours on a domestic socket or 7 h 30 on a public terminal or Wallbox 32A. Better yet, thanks to the use of an available terminal on the CHAdeMO fast-charging network (50 kW), a load of up to 80% can be achieved between 40 and 60 minutes.
The other plus of this van is its utilitarian capabilities. With its original shape compared to other vans, the NV200 offers a large cargo volume of 4.2 m3 that few competitors offer. Always in the load cell, the maximum length (2040 mm), the maximum width (1500 mm) and the minimum width between the wheel wells (1220 mm) allow the transport of two euro pallets. The height of the loading threshold, which does not exceed 52 cm, facilitates handling. Only downside, the maximum payload of 701 kg is down compared to the thermal version (743 kg max) because of the overweight generated by the battery. Finally, note that the maximum towable weight is 410 kg.

By settling in the cockpit, disappointment is in order. Inside the e-NV200, appeared in 2009 in Europe, is the weight of his age. Hard plastics are mostly and their quality is average. The assembly between the different elements is also perfectible. The storage is numerous but small and especially scattered throughout the cabin and sometimes unattainable for the driver. Fortunately, the glove box has a lid. The driving position is not ideal either because the steering wheel, for example, can only be adjusted in height. The decline of the seat back can only be carried out when stopped because the lever is inaccessible when the door is closed! Note finally the outgrowth in the door, supporting the button of the electric window, which rubs the driver’s left knee.
Fortunately, on the road, the e-NV200 shows all its qualities. The silence of operation, linked to the electric propulsion, brings calm and serenity in the driving. Attention all the same to the soundproofing. In the passenger compartment, the sounds of bearings and the whistling typical of the electric motor are a little intrusive. Nothing unacceptable, however, compared to the sound volume generated by a diesel thermal. And then, appreciable driving pleasure manages to make forget this small noise embarrassment. Two main reasons explain this observation. The first lies in the platform used which is not that of the NV200 but of the Leaf, Nissan electric compact sedan. A change that allows for a very dynamic road behavior. The e-NV200 connects turns with ease without taking roll or pitch. It is true that the van is also well served by the installation of the battery under the floor that lowers the center of gravity. The comfort is, moreover, satisfactory because the suspensions correctly absorb the imperfections of our roads.
The second is at the performance level. The accelerations make it possible to move in traffic with ease thanks to the torque of 254 Nm and a power of 109 hp. The maximum speed electronically limited to 123 km / h also makes it possible to leave the city centers to take national and highways.
Nissan e-NV200 Autonomy
There remains the question of autonomy. On a varied route (downtown, highway, highway, departmental) of 138 km, it remained 63 km while the autonomy of departure was 269 km. The promise to travel 280 km is not required but for many professionals, having the certainty of having at least 200 km to work can be enough. In addition, Nissan offers the opportunity to choose its driving mode to promote performance or “consumption”. With the shifter, the driver can select position B instead of D to generate more engine braking and recover more energy when braking. There is also the Eco mode which “bridles” the LUV in order to also favor energy saving. The latter is ideal for urban traffic.
The range of Nissan e-NV200 st conforms to that of the thermal version. Three finishes are proposed: Visia, Optima and N-Connecta.
The entry-level Visia brings the driver airbag, ESP, ABS with emergency brake assist, a panel partition, electric mirrors, electric front windows, a 6.6 kW onboard charger (for recharging in 7 h 30 on Wallbox 32A), two cables of 6 m, a system of opening and starting without key “Intelligent key”, modes of driving Eco and B and a spare wheel.
The Optima mid-finisher also offers a passenger airbag, cruise control/speed limiter, a reversing camera with dynamic gauge marks, a CHAdeMO 50 kW quick charger connector, fog lamps and a Bluetooth hands-free system.
Finally, the high-end N-Connect adds a multimedia navigation system with 7-inch screen, auto-wiping front wipers, automatic lighting of lights and a Bluetooth audio system.
